2016년 11월, 이민휘의 첫 솔로 앨범 [빌린 입]이 12인치 바이닐과 디지털로 발매된다. 7년 간 조금씩 쓰여진 여덟 곡은 하나의 이야기로 느슨하게 묶여 있으며, 음악과 언어의 힘을 빌어 지극히 개인적인 이야기가 당신의, 우리의 이야기가 될 수 있을지 질문한다.
“그녀도 한동안 악몽을 꾸었던 것 같다. 혀를 도둑 맞고, 빌리고, 그것으로 기어이 노래하는 아름답고 쓸쓸한 꿈을. 타인의 악몽이 위로가 된다는 건 이상한 일이다. 그러나 행복이 그렇듯이 슬픔도 삶의 어디쯤에선가 빌려온 것이라면, 더 이상 내 것이 아닐 때까지 고이 간직할 수밖에 없다. 혀 끝에 올려놓고, 오래오래 더듬을 수밖에 없다.” (김영글 - 가끔 작가, 월간 <오늘보다> 편집 디자이너)
Minhwee Lee’s first solo album, Borrowed Tongue, will be released (12” vinyl and digital) in November 2016. The eight tracks, written across seven years and recorded over two years, are loosely tied into one narrative. Leaning on the musical as well as lyrical strength, Lee’s music asks whether a very personal story can become that of the listener, as an individual and as a multitude.
“Perhaps she, too, must have been having nightmares; beautiful and somber dreams, where one has her tongue stolen, borrows a tongue, and finally sings with it. It is strange that one person’s nightmare could be solace to another. But if grief is, as is happiness, something that we have borrowed from some part of life—then we have no choice but to cherish the grief until it no longer is ours. We cannot but let the grief linger on the tip of our tongue, slowly touching and feeling.” (Youngle Kim, Sometimes an artist, currently editorial designer for the monthly [Todayboda] magazine)
